THE PHARMACY ELF

The Pharmacy Elf
The Pharmacy Elf at the busy pharmacy counter in Graves Drug Store makes certain that everything is organized and runs smoothly. As an added bonus, he ensures that every prescription is sprinkled with "Getbetter" dust before it is put in the sack.

Poem by

Harold, the Head Herd Handler and Woody, the Woodcarver,
are good buddies and get into lots of mischief together
when they finish their chores.

Like that Christmas far, far away.
Harold hitched the herd to the sleigh.
Santa gave a whistle
the signal to the team to fly to the sky,
like the down of a thistle.
NOTHING!!!
So he called them by name.......
on Donner, now Dancer and Prancer......
NOTHING!!!
Try as they might.....
They couldn't take flight!
With a turn of his head ---
Santa knew what there was to dread!
The team couldn't fly as they should......
Cause they were carved from wood!!!
Harold, the Head Herd Handler
and Woody, the Woodcarver
are their names
and mischief is their game!!!"

SANTA'S PILOT ELF

.
Santa's Pilot Elf

On Christmas eve and on Christmas morning Santa still uses his sleigh, just as he has always done. However, during the other times of the year he breaks with tradition and has his pilot-elf fly him around in a Pilatus PC-12.
Santa is cool!

Scruffy
When Scruffy was just a little elfling, he had a bad experience in getting his first hair cut.
Scruffy does not remember the experience exactly, but it was enough to set him on a apath that avoided barbers at all costs.
When the barber elf comes to his work shop, Scruffy hides and he cuts his own hair.

THE BARBER ELF

.

The Barber Elf
The Barber Elf makes work shop calls to cut the elves hair and beards.
The elves are usually so busy that they do not have time to go to visit him, so he just goes to them making stops at the various Toy Work Shops.

EPIE, THE DREAMER

.
Epie, The Dreamer
It isn't that Epie is unhappy working in Santa's Workshop, because he is a happy elf by nature. It is just that he has been unable to follow his dream of moving to Southwest Kansas and work for the Epic Touch Company.
However, Epie comes from a long line of toy makers and close family ties prevent him from following his dream. The next best thing that he can do is wear his hat with the home made Epic Touch logo and pretend.
Maybe someday Epie . . . maybe someday!

TOY MAKER #2 - AUSNUTZEN

.
Toy Maker #2 - Ausnutzen
.
When Toymaker # 2 - Ausnutzen - joined Santa's work force, his job was straight forward and the job description was clear - Toy maker.
Due to Ausnutzen's pleasant personality and his willingness to tackle anything, he has found himself reigned in on a lot of "dirty"jobs, both literally and figuratively, that were NOT in his job description.
For instance, when black paint was spilled in the toy train area, his name was at the top of the list for clean up detail.
When a Baby Spit-up doll went off in Santa's sleigh, who was called? Ausnutzen!
Even when the elves got together and decided that the Naughty List Recorder needed to put deodorant and breath mints on his Christmas list, who was enlisted to tell him? Ausnutzen, of course!
Toy Maker #2 - the "doer of dirty jobs" - called Ausnutzen!
.
Notice the dirt on his face and beard - yes, he had a dirty job!

SKY, THE ELF WITH THE WEATHER PREDICTING HAT

.

.
Sky - the Elf with the Weather Predicting Hat

It is important for Santa to have an accurate report on the weather for Christmas eve.

He depends heavily on Sky, the Elf with the Weather Predicting Hat. Sky's hat changes color to indicate the color of the sky on Christmas Day.

Over the years, Santa has become pretty adept at reading the weather from the cues that Sky's hat gives him.

Although the hat ONLY predicts the color of the sky on Christmas Day, Santa can guess pretty accurately what it will be like on Christmas Even when he starts his trip.

PINK MEDICINE ELF *♪*• ♫ •*♪*

.

The Pink Medicine Elf

"He knows when you are sleeping and he knows when you're awake . . . and he knows if you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake."

♪*¨*•.¸♫¸¸.•*¨*♪
.
And . . . he knows if you are a little "under the weather" and not feeling up to par.
When that is the case, Santa dispatches the Pink Medicine Elf to help you feel better.
The Pink Medicine Elf also encourages a friend or relative to give you special attention during this unfortunate time that you are sick.

SCHNODDRIG KERL

.

Schnoddrig Kerl
Why would such a sweet looking little elf be named Schnoddrig Kerl?
One can hardly understand it . . . until Schnoddrig opens his mouth! What issues forth is the most brash and inappropriate verbage one can imagine.
Looks do not always indicate the personality and Schnoddrig certainly verifies this thought. But like a few sweet and cute looking people, this elf gets by with brash talk and thoughtless comments.

He has a good array of tools and knows how to use them, plus he has the uncanning ability of a good fix=it man . . or elf . . to understand how things work. He also has a sixth sense that tells him what is wrong and how to fix it.

MY HUSBAND, THE WOODCARVER

.
Millard was honored to have a national woodcarving magazine
"Woodcarving Illustrated" ask him to write an article for their magazine.

His article came out in their Holiday Edition a couple of weeks ago.
What an exciting time for both of us.

← This is the cover of the magazine
as it was published.

This was one of the
runner up covers →
.
That happens to be a picture of Millard's Santa
that was featured in his story on page 72 - 77.
.
Millard is a member of the discussion board of the "Wood Carving Illustrated."
.
I am a member of a local Emporia web site "Flyover People."
It is an amazing web site about Kansas.
http://www.flyoverpeople.net/news/
.
Cheryl (the administrator of Flyover People) posted a story about Millard.
http://www.flyoverpeople.net/news/2010/11/15/millard-hits-the-big-time/
.
The woodcarving slide show that Cheryl mentions in her story was produced by her husband, Dave. He did such a professional presentation.
http://www.prairiepathways.com/galleries/woodcarver/woodcarver.html
.
Our local Emporia Gazette featured Millard in this week ends paper - on the front page. I do not have a link to the front page with the pictures - only a link to the article.
http://www.emporiagazette.com/news/2010/nov/27/local-woodcarvers-ornament-featured-magazine/
.
If you are at a place that sells the "Woodcarving Illustrated", I hope you will have a chance to see and read the article. I don't think it is sold in Wal-Mart - usually in bookstores.
Our local bookstore "Town Crier Book Store" and Graves Drug Store/Pharmacy sells the magazine.
However, it should be in most book stores around the U.S. http://www.towncrierbookstore.com/
.
Millard's Elves - he was consigned to carve 45 elves this year - are on this blog and will be on his web site when his wife updates it.☺
.
Millard also was in an Emporia Gazette Feature Story in 2006.
